so... do we know where this sculpture of the angel comes from? Is it supposed to evoke sadness? Represent death? Personally, I think the artist just got lazy and didn't want to sculpt a face.
Comes from a graveyard in New Orleans. It is supposed to evoke sadness. Can you think of anything sadder than an angel without a face? Life sucks... and they life forever.
